When Guests walk into World of Disney at Downtown Disney Marketplace, they
walk into a world of magic, memories and much more.
When they enter beneath a mischievously spitting Stitch and pass through a group of swashbuckling pirates, they step into a realm of fantasy, nostalgia and spectacle, where Guests of all ages can not only experience the wonder of Disney but bring home a little piece of the magic for themselves.

The World of Disney store first opened its doors to Guests on October 3, 1996, almost exactly 15 years ago.
Boasting 13 themed rooms overflowing with toys, collectables and apparel, the
whimsically decorated location features more than 50,000 square feet of retail
magic and remains the ultimate merchandise experience for Walt Disney World
Guests. Whatever the desired Disney gift, chances are it can be found within its
walls.
It’s so large that in addition to more than 700 working Cast
Members, it’s the only Disney store that requires a third shift team to prepare
for each morning’s opening. In 2006, it debuted the first Bibbidi Bobbidi
Boutique, where children receive sparkling princess makeovers or are transformed
into knights and pirates.
According to the fanciful legend behind the store’s creation, World of Disney
was born when Mickey and Minnie needed a place to store the many souvenirs
collected during their world travels.
