Fantasyland Update: Mermaids & Circuses (Oct. 2011)
In the precedent update, we posted a number of pictures of the Beauty and the Beast area, which has received a lot of attention lately. Let's now continue to to check out the work being done in the brand-new Fantasyland Forest by moving on to the Little Mermaid's area and to the Storybook Circus land:
- The Little Mermaid's Area -
The rockwork is truly impressive in this area too:
Some areas still need some work:

The old against the new:
Dumbo's indoor queue is looking good:
The old Circus Tent (which will continue to house one of the park's biggest shops) is being given a completely new cover. This picture was taken a few days ago, but as of now, the entire top part has been removed:
The sides are receiving some attention too:
A view of the tent from another location:
You can clearly see that there's another layer under the external tent:
Another look at the Double Dumbo area:
And that is all. Remember to check out also our other Fantasyland update, which covers the Beauty and the Beast area. Also, stay tuned for yet another Fantasyland update, covering miscellaneous subjects.
If I'm not mistaken, the remaining "layer" of the circus tents look like the original Mickey's Birthdayland tents. Because the recent tents looked different than those original tents, I always assumed they were new structures. Now it appears to me that the old tents were completely covered, with a new frame (to give them a different shape) and then new skins. This, of course, is all conjecture. Does anyone know if this is the case?
ReplyDelete@steve2wdw - you are correct. The Toontown Fair tents were just a cosmetic addition to the existing Birthdayland/Starland tent structures.
ReplyDeleteThat's very interesting, steve2wdw! I had no idea that there was actually one tent inside another one! Thanks for sharing that with us.
ReplyDeleteAlso, thanks to Anonymous for the confirmation.
