A Trip Down Memory Lane - Splash Island Waterpark

Cypress Gardens Adventure Park has been closed for almost two full years now. Of course, we all know that a fantastic, new LEGOLAND theme park is taking its place. On the other side, though, there are still no plans for the former Splash Island, Cypress Gardens' own waterpark, or at least, there are no plans that we know of. The Merlin Entertainment Company has reassured us that they will bring it back, in a way or another.

In the meantime, let's take a look at some pictures of the area, which were taken from the park's official website, which is now gone (we tried to find it, but it now links to LEGOLAND Florida):

One of the nicest areas of the park was the Polynesian Adventure, very similar to "Kata's Kookaburra Cove" at Aquatica, where kids and adults can have fun together:

Near the waterpark's main entrance there was a small lazy river:

Nearby, a very nice pool with a crystalline water welcomes you:

All of a sudden, though, waves start to appear in the once-calm lagoon:

In the background, we can see a very tall structure, which houses some of the waterpark's most thrilling slides::

Yes, these are definitely for brave guests!:

Nearby, we find a set of enclosed water-slides:

And, we end with an aerial view of the park, as seen in 2005 (pictures courtesy of Aerophotos.com):

Now, the conditions of the area are far from being "good," unfortunately.

Anyway, as you have seen, the park was not that big, but it was still a nice place to cool off! We really hope LEGOLAND will refurbish it, and reintroduce it as LEGOLAND's Waterpark. We'll see how it goes.

  1. They will be.

I have spoken to the Legoland Press team several times...that is the current plan.

However they may charge separate admission for this area.
