Internet Enhancements Coming to Disney Resorts
Do you remember all the tests that the Walt Disney World Resort was doing in many of its hotels? They involved having free internet access in the lobby, as well as internet access in each of the hotels' rooms.
Well, it looks like they're almost ready to implement these changes:

We’re currently installing Internet enhancements for the future enjoyment of our Guests. At this time, we do not have any additional details of those enhancements. We’ll share all the details at a future date.

This is actually a good addition to the Disney Resorts, but it is also not such an unusual news. In this day and age, every single hotel in the United States offers some kind of access to the internet to its guests, and the majority of them (including motels!) offers these services for free. It was only a matter of time, we all saw this coming... Anyway, this is a good news especially for those who still have to do work while they're on vacation.
Yes, that´s exactly why I go to WDW - to spend as much time as possible online... Don´t need it, don´t want it! Just one more step in the wrong direction - I´m going to WDW to get *away* from things like the internet...
ReplyDeleteI absolutely agree with you, Anonymous, but, as I always say, it is better to add than to take away something. I know I will never use this service, but, as I said, there may be some people who may need it...
ReplyDeleteIn this day and age being able to connect while on vacation can be really important. I know that it makes it a million times easier for kids and college students to get time off if they can still email projects in while they are away.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't like the idea of free internet, than don't use it. Why complain when they give you more options? Makes no sense to me.
Don't forget, some people like to upload their vacation photos the night after they take them. Also, I am a college student and I have gone on vacation and still had to do homework and do tests. So the internet in Disney resorts is perfect. As Bair said, if you don't like it then don't use it
ReplyDeleteI like cause when i am on vacation i make a blog for myself as well as the people back home. They can follow me and know what i did that day and that all is great.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea (although, being a DVC member, we do get it for free, yet we have to go through hoops to turn the dang thing on!). We like to upload pictures right away to Snapfish or Flickr so this is good.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I go to conferences on Disney property and I do have to log in to check emails, etc. Up until this point, it was ridiculous that I'd have to submit an expense report for the $10 (or whatever it was) per day for Internet access.

ReplyDeleteI live in the uk so when I was in Orlando the past 2 weeks. I said I would email a few people and check footie scores at Disney Quest. Was so gutted to see there replaced all the computers with a wireless cafe. Next time I go I take my lap top with us.
