LEGOLAND Florida Construction Update - The Castle
LEGOLAND Florida is continuing to see more and more new buildings and models being "assembled" on site, many of which are made of thousands of small LEGO bricks. Just yesterday, we had the great opportunity of checking out part of the construction site, and believe me, it was really great to see some of the famous LEGO attractions taking shape!
Today we'll take a look at Castle Hill, one of the park's most interesting lands. LEGOLAND Florida describes this land as the place that "takes kids back to medieval times where many knights, princesses and dragons are found." Sounds exciting, right? Here you are the attractions that you will find in this area:
1) The Dragon – an indoor/outdoor steel roller coaster that features a hilarious, behind-the-scenes view of life within the enchanted LEGOLAND Castle.
2) The Royal Joust – kids ride LEGO-themed horses through a number of medieval scenes where they encounter other riders in a simulated joust.
3) Merlin’s Challenge – climb aboard a mysterious wooden train ride.
4) Hideaways – a multi-level tree and rope climb adventure.
5) Princess Makeover – a little girl’s dream-come-true transformation including a special photo to mark the day.

Now, it is time to take a look at the area. Enjoy the pictures (click on them to see the full-size resolution)!
The coaster track looks very familiar, doesn't it? Indeed, it look similar to the "Flight of the Hippogriff" at Islands of Adventure:
The entrance to "Castle Hill" looks magnificent:

The side of the castle is very well-themed too:
Here's the view once you pass through the castle's entrance:
It is really fantastic. The quality of the theming is absolutely great:
Now, in the next few pictures you can notice better some of the many particulars found on the castle:
This will be part of the queue for "The Dragon" coaster:
On the side, we can find Merlin's challenge:

The "Hideaways" course:
In LEGOLAND Windsor (in the U.K., I remember seeing this same attraction. There, it is/was called "The Mouse Trap"):
"The Royal Joust" looks very fun (and yes, I'm too old to go on that, but it's still fun to see how it works). Kids will be able to hop on a horse, and pretend they are knights. Then, the horse starts to gallop, and then the tournament starts! But, don't worry - they are completely safe. None of the horses will ever touch any other horse on the track. Here you are some pictures of the unfinished ride:
The ride's station:
Hopefully nobody will take a picture of a LEGO horse from this angle...

And that is all, for today. We hope you've enjoyed the pictures.
TOMORROW: a look at "The Beginning" and much more! Have a great day!

Place is going up fast, way faster then what Disney seems to be able to build. :P
ReplyDeleteStill it's a shame the park is so child focused, me and my friends are big Lego fans and still can't decide if its worth going since many rides won't be for adults.
@Anon - I second, all that... They do seem to be building pretty fast, and it's also hard for me to get excited about it when I think the neatest things are going to be the Lego Models/creations (I'm intrigue to see those).
ReplyDeleteEverything else (as you say) doesn't seem to be for adults.
Wow, you got to go onto the park during construction? Congratulations! You're becoming the the official site for Orlando Theme Park news!
