The Disney Look... to the past! (July 30 - Aug. 5)
Mondays are usually the worst days for many people. It's the beginning of another workweek, of course! Fortunately, we always have something to alleviate such a painful thought. Indeed, take a look at this week's look at the past of the Walt Disney Company!:

This Week in Disney History: July 30-Aug. 5
Aug. 1, 1997 - Disney's Coronado Springs Resort opens at the Walt Disney World Resort
Built around the 22-acre Lake Dorado, Disney's Coronado Springs Resort offers a taste of Spanish Colonial-era Mexico in the heart of the Walt Disney World Resort. Located near Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park and Disney's Hollywood Studios, the resort is named for famed conquistador Don Francisco Vásquez de Coronado, who discovered Arizona's Grand Canyon and explored much of New Mexico during the 16th century. Water is a recurring theme throughout the resort, from the spring-fed Fountain of the Doves near the entrance to the Mayan-themed "Dig Site" pool, which features a 123-foot-long jaguar-themed water slide. The 1,900 guest rooms are split into three sections that reflect American Southwest architecture, from the terra-cotta Casitas and pueblo-style Ranchos to the beachfront Cabanas. In addition to the popular Maya Grill and Pepper Market Food Court, Disney's Coronado Springs Resort is one of the resort's most popular convention spaces: The 60,214 square-foot Coronado Ballroom is the largest at the resort.
Aug. 5, 1967 - Adventure thru Inner Space opens at Disneyland Park
For nearly two decades, this landmark Tomorrowland attraction took guests (quite literally) into the world of chemistry. Aboard the Atomobile, guests are shrunk down by the Mighty Microscope and deposited onto a snowflake. As they continue to get smaller, riders see the hydrogen molecules, electrons and atoms that compose it, all the way down to a glowing red nucleus. Riders slowly return to normal size as the snow melts - look up and you'll spot the eye that has been watching you on the microscope. Adventure thru Inner Space was the first Disneyland attraction to utilize the continuously moving Omnimover ride system, later used for the Haunted Mansion and most recently for The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel's Undersea Adventure at Disney California Adventure Park. It was also among the few early park attractions that never required an admission coupon, thanks in part to a longtime sponsorship by the Monsanto Company. The attraction closed in 1985 to make way for Star Tours, which included a glimpse of the Mighty Microscope in the ride film as a tribute.
