'Hiring blitz' this week for SeaWorld
SeaWorld Orlando says it will conduct a "hiring blitz" this week as it seeks to bring aboard enough seasonal workers to handle the remainder of the busy summer months.
SeaWorld, along with its smaller, sister parks Aquatica and Discovery Cove, wants to add more workers in its operations, culinary and merchandise departments. Aquatica, a water park, and Discovery Cove, a limited-admission boutique park, are also seeking additional lifeguards.
SeaWorld, like Orlando's other big theme park operators, began searching for summer workers back in the spring, saying at the time that it planned to fill approximately 2,000 seasonal positions. The company said Monday that it is still looking for approximately 650 employees.
SeaWorld says it will consider "anyone" who visits the park's Human Resources Center on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday of this week. All applicants must have an identification card with photo, and those interested in work are encouraged to apply ahead of time online at the theme park's employment website, www.careers.seaworldparks.com.
