AMPventure to Open Soon at Old Town
Old Town is coming back. It is finally time for the park to make a comeback. As we reported a week ago, we're going to see a lot of new additions here in the next few months. One of the biggest new additions will be the "AMPventure Experience", which will include a multi-story ropes course, a zip-line and a rock climbing wall. To get additional information on this exciting project, take a look at the following pictures and more, courtesy of Old Town:

Get ready to be AMP’d at Old Town. The all new AMPventure
Experience is a state of the art adventure course comprising of a four story
Ropes Challenge Course, an incredible ‘out and back’ Zip Line and a 35 ft
adrenaline rushing Rock Climbing Wall. The installation marks the beginning of a new and exciting Old Town which has
been taken over by a new management entity, namely, Brothers Enterprises
Management Group (BEMG).
“Our goal is to bring families back to Old Town
and this installation is the perfect beginning. The course is an awesome
experience the entire family can enjoy together and we are able to offer it at
an incredible price which we believe is imperative in this economic
environment.”- Gary Conroy, President
The AMPventure experience is being sponsored by the
Pepsi Cola Company’s AMP brand and the entire course sits on the very front of
property and has an incredible visual presence from Highway 192.

It is really great to see that Old Town is going in the right direction. As you may have read, they said that their goal is to "bring families back to Old Town". They humbly recognized that in the last few years their interest shifted toward adults and teenagers. Families used to skip Old Town. Now, though, this and other additions will surely change the situation, and Old Town will once again appeal to a broader audience.
Also, if you noticed from the concept art, the new ropes course is going to be a part of a very clever marketing strategy. Just like the new 'Power Trip" coaster at Fun Spot, the new ropes course is very visible from the 192, making people want to check it out.
Well done, Old Town! We are very proud of you, as that's exactly what you need to do. Keep up the great work!
Brilliant, can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteI think one of the most positive aspects of this announcement is that there is a "new management entity" in charge of Oldtown.
ReplyDeleteClearly, the new management recognise the need to refresh Oldtown, which the previous management allowed to become old and stale.
While true thrillseekers may be unimpressed with the batch of new and proposed additions, these efforts should at least ensure Oldtown has a future
These rope courses are very fun! This one however is pretty small but I did Adventure Mountain, which is 3 separate courses in one massive structure. I think this is the perfect move.
ReplyDeleteAs for thrillseekers. No park should really be interested in officially appeasing them. If you want thrills go to Busch. Orlando is a city with parks for familys.
I agree with you, Austin. I'm very happy with the new management's way of thinking. That's the right target they have to aim to attract: families. Orlando is the most famous family-friendly destination in the world, so that's exactly what every business in O-town needs to keep in mind.
ReplyDeleteThey can think about adding thrill rides later (even though they already added a thrill ride, the new "Flying Dutchman").
