On Tuesday, June 14, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park will once again be the official headquarters for the World's Largest Swimming Lesson™. The international event will attempt to break the Guinness World Record™ set last year for the largest simultaneous swimming lesson ever conducted. The event is presented by a coalition of the nation's leading water safety and training organizations, including the World Waterpark Association. It was created as a platform to support public education about water safety and the importance of teaching children to swim.
This year, over 900 facilities with an estimated 30,000 participants worldwide are registered to participate in the swim lesson, which will begin at 11 a.m. Guests are welcome to participate. Registration for the event will be on June 14 at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park beginning at 9 a.m. Please note, regular water park admission is required.

Frequently Asked Questions to use on a reactive basis:

1. Will I be an official Guinness World Record™ holder if I participate?
If guests are registered and participate in the event, and a new record for largest simultaneous swimming lesson is declared by the Guinness World Record™ organization, then they will be an official Guinness World Record™ holder.

2. What are the ages for participation?
Guests 8 years old and older can participate alone, but families are encouraged to participate together.  Anyone under the age of 8 must have a parent with them in the pool.

3. What if I don’t want to participate in the event, can I still go to the water park?
Yes, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park will be operating as normal. However, at 10:30 a.m., guests will need to clear the Wave Pool and only registered swimming lesson participants will be allowed in the Wave Pool from 10:35-11:45 a.m.
