Fantasyland Update - Little Mermaid Plants and More

A quite unusual title, right? Well, as you will see from this exciting Fantasyland update, it really fits the theme of these new pictures: plants. Indeed, they've added plants in many places, both near the walls that divide us from the new Fantasyland Expansion and on the Little Mermaid's castle! But (yes, there's a but)... the plants are now gone! They were just there a few minutes earlier, and then... they disappeared!

Let's see together how Fantasyland's construction is progressing, and let's see what happened with those plants, shall we? First of all, we have to start with a look at what remains of the old Skyway Station:

ATTENTION: LARGE PICTURE AHEAD. WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE LOADING TIME.

Only the clock tower still stands (with a ridiculous amount of strollers):

Nothing more to see, for now!:

It looks like they're already clearing the way for the new path back there:

Work continues on the tower near "It's a Small World":

And today, it looks more like "It's a Busy World":

Re-roofing is still in progress on Pinocchio's Village Haus:

The last planter to be removed is still... well, being removed, of course:

Dumbo's going to fly away soon!:

Now, onto some construction pictures!

- THE BEAUTY AND THE BEAST'S AREA -

The rock formation is really looking great already!:

More photos of the area:

The rockwork is really massive!:

Belle's Cottage:

Work on Belle's Village:

By the way, have you ever noticed the fireworks on top of Mickey's Philarmagic? Take a look:

- THE LITTLE MERMAID'S CASTLE -

The Little Mermaid's castle wooden frame has finally been covered up!! Take a look:

Very nice!:

New windows have appeared:

Also in this case, the rockwork looks fantastic:

But, what's going on near the side of the castle?:

What are those Imagineers doing? And what's on the background??:

Yes, those are plants!! They look absolutely great on the faux rock formation!!:

A closer look at the plants (that look like underwater plants):

Pine trees?:

But... what are they doing now?:

Why are they putting all those plats away? They just placed them!:

Do you want to know why? Well....

They were surely taking a new pictures for the Disney Parks Blog. Check out the blog every now and then, to see if this ends up being true or not!:

- DUMBO'S STORYBOOK CIRCUS -

Work on Storybook Circus continues:

New trees have been placed near the planter, as somebody took some pictures standing on it... :

Over-the-walls:

The circus:

Ah, who doesn't need some peace pece of mind?:

  2. You asked why they were putting the plants away...They haven't even painted or stained the concrete yet. It wouldn't make sense to paint the structure and get glop and goo all over those plants. I'd imagine they were doing a test run to see what plants look most appropriate for the setting. Kind of like putting a sample paint chip against a blank wall. (: That's my guess.

  5. We apologize for that. We are always looking for ways to make our updates more enjoyable, so we thought it would have been good to post them in their full resolution, but it didn't work... We'll go back to our low-resolution standards, beginning with tomorrow's photo-update.

  6. Hi, some inside info on the plants: Those are prototype 'test' plants you are/were seeing. They were put up to be reviewed and photographed to make sure they are the right scale (size), color and to make sure they look just right on the rocks. Then, they will be tweeked as necessary and the rest of them will be made (yes, they're artificial) and installed. The pine trees will be installed on the Castle rocks (not the Mermaid rocks) but they took the opportunity to put a few of them up as well to test them also since the rocks on the Castle side are of the same scale. Hope that clears everything up. Great pics too, btw. :) PR.

  7. Great update! Like PR said they were there to judge the scale of the plants and other things. If you follow Cars Land and DCA construction you can see where they have done this on the mountain ranges. But they have finally put them up for good now it seems since they haven't been moved in a while.
