Comcast Buys Blackstone's Share of Universal Orlando

A breaking news comes from "The Wrap" website (thanks to a report of Theme Park Insider): Comcast has finally decided to buy Blackstone's share of the enormously successful Universal Orlando Resort.

Comcast will have to finalize the deal by June 12, 2011, paying between $1 billion and $1.5 billion, otherwise, Comcast will be able to start putting their share of the resort on the market, so that any company would be able to buy it, but Blackstone doesn't want that to happen, as they are aware of how much more money they could make by taking hold of the whole resort.

What do you think? Is Comcast doing the right move? Or should they just leave Blackstone put their share on the market, without having to spend anything?

  1. That's a real shame. I love Universal, but I despise Comcast with all my being. I'm really hoping that this deal doesn't go through.
