LEGOLAND Florida unveils sad operating schedule

LEGOLAND Florida has finally posted the opening hours for the months of November and December 2011 (October is missing because they have yet to announce the official opening day). Unfortunately, The schedule may look very strange to many of us (especially to Floridians like us), for obvious reasons. Take a look:

To see the original page for this schedule, please click here. Notice anything wrong? Of course...

The park is closed most Tuesdays and Wednesdays, like they do in California! This is Florida, where we have visitors every day of every week of every single year! You can tell that we highly dislike this kind of schedule, also because ALL the theme parks in Central Florida are open 365 days a year. This will make their Annual Passes even less appealing.

When they said that LEGOLAND Florida would be a "year-round theme park", I guessed that they meant it would be open every day. But it won't.
Can you imagine a family coming to Florida, trying to visit LEGOLAND, only to discover that it may be closed? Also, open from 10 to 5 p.m.? That is worse than Disney's Animal Kingdom's hours!

Does this mean that LEGOLAND will be a minor theme park? We really hope they change their minds, and most importantly, change their schedule.

  2. Welcome to Merlin Entertainments. Possibly the worst theme park company in the world.

    They'd be surprised by the fact that they'll make more money if they were open on Tuesdays and Wensdays.

  4. @Anonymous: Maybe that's true :-), but then it's LEGOLAND that has to adjust its thinking...

    @Adz: I don't think that Merlin is the worst company. I love their museum and the LEGOLAND parks in general. It's just that they have some strange ways of running their parks...

    @APS: I wholeheartedly agree!!!

  5. Merlin turns it's back on lots of money making opportunities. I have experience working with them, and they think Disney is the competition. They should be using Disney as a blueprint.

  6. No one is going to travel to Haines City from Disney or anyplace else other than maybe Davenport to visit a theme park that is only open 7 hours.

  7. This is very disappointing as Wednesday is my day off and Lego Land will not be an option to spend a day off...I guess they won't miss my business...and to think I was thinking about an annual pass.

  8. This means nothing.

    This is a first year park. It is a major park. Also keep in mind this is only 2 months announced on the calendar year which will be 12 months for Legoland.

    Another thing to remember is that they arent going to be able to compete substanially against Disney, Busch and Universal during the christmas season which is when people flock to Disney and the other central Florida parks.

    With that said I do not see any reason for concern with these hours.
