NEWS! - The repainting of the Hulk has started!

Some days ago, Screamscape reported that a painting company specialized in theme parks had been recruited to repaint one of the attractions in Islands of Adventures: The Incredible Hulk Coaster.

Today, thanks to a report of one of our readers (many people are starting to help us, and that's GREAT!!) that has posted an Anonymous comment, we have the confirmation, with pictures, that the re-painting of the attraction has started already!! Take a look at this announcement, from the Baynum Painting Inc.!:

Painting the Incredible Hulk at Universal Orlando!

Baynum Painting is thrilled to announce that work has begun on Universal Studios’ famous “Incredible Hulk” roller coaster ride at Orlando’s Islands of Adventure park. The Hulk’s entire track, support structure, and station house will be getting fresh new paint applied over the next several weeks. All work is taking place outside of Universal’s normal operating hours, so there will be no interruption to the ride’s schedule for park visitors. Crews arrived in Orlando on Thursday to begin prepping the site, and will work 7 nights a week until the project wraps up in Mid-April.
Due to the Hulk’s unique layout (partially above water) and it’s proximity to surrounding attractions, the repaint will be completed entirely via brush and roll application. A combination of products from industrial paint manufacturers PPG and Color Wheel by Comex will be used on the ride and station house.
Though Baynum Painting has been coating roller coasters for over 25 years, this is their first project for Universal Studios. “We’re incredibly happy to be able to showcase our work on such a marquis coaster like Hulk, in a park that sees over 5 million visitors annually” says owner Chris Baynum.
While the color concept isn’t changing, the new coats of Hulk Green in an incredibly durable urethane from PPG are sure to WOW park visitors for years to come. Stop by Islands of Adventure soon to see our work in progress, and be sure to take Hulk for a ride – it takes off so fast you won’t see much more than a blur of green around you, but rest assured Baynum Painting is making sure that the blur will be bright and shiny!

Check back soon for regular work-in-progress photos and updates.

  3. Click on the blue underlined words Baynum Painting Inc. in the post Bigfoots & you can see them preping the top of the loop for the paint - VERY cool!
Wish I was there now instead of diging out ANOTHER 4 inches of snow today (snowed 2 days ago too)! Hope the weather is better in Italy for you Bigfoots than it is in New Hampshire! : )

  4. Yay! So happy about this. I hope it will be finished by April 30th, as I am going to Grad Bash that evening and desperately want to ride the Hulk at night! Every time I've ever ridden it, it has been morning or the afternoon! Either way it is a fabulous ride and I'm glad it is getting to TLC it deserves.

  5. Does that mean it will be closed during the day?

  6. No, you don't have to worry. All the work will be done during the night, to avoid closing the ride during the day. One more point for Universal Orlando, for doing this!
