Tangled - Disney's 50th Animated Movie
Just yesterday I got to see Disney's newest animated movie, "Tangled" in Disney Digital 3D.
It is the company's 50th animated movie, so that's a great milestone. But, how is the movie, you may ask.
Well, I think that it's really nice. It is definitely not a girls-movie, as I was afraid it might be, at first. It appeals to both males and females, and it's very adventurous, with many active and entertaining moments moments.

The story begins with Flynn Rider (the robber) that wants to tell you a story.
There was a king and a queen that were going to have a baby princess, but while the queen was pregnant, she became sick and was going to die. So the whole kingdom decided to go and look for a special flower that heals everything.
The Castle |
Unfortunately, an old lady found the flower some years before, and decided not to divide it with anyone, because she wanted to remain young... for life. At one point though, some guards of the kingdom found the flower, and used it to heal the queen. She felt better right away, and the little princess that was born received a special "gift": her hair had that same power to heal, as they glowed if she sang a special song.
The evil lady (she's neither a witch nor a queen, or something) |
The evil lady wanted her gift back, so decided to cut some of her hair to use it just as the flower. But unfortunately, she discovered that when cut, the hair turns brown and loses its power, so she decided to kidnap the little princess, and put her.... in a tower:
The tower |
After eighteen years of imprisonment, Rapunzel (the princess) becomes a beautiful girl, and wants to go and explore the world. She's particularly fascinated by some lanterns that get released one day a year. She doesn't know what they're for (actually, the lanterns that fly are to remember the loss of the princess, that was HER!), and she's very curios to go and see them, but the bad lady absolutely doesn't want her to get out of the tower.
Before her 18th year, a robber (Flynn Rider) decides to hide inside the tower, without knowing who was there....
They never get Flynn's nose right! |
After they meet, a great adventure begins, where Flynn and Rapunzel escape from the tower together and go to a quest to see the lamps. They will encounter Vikings, guards and many other people, all in a nice and medieval setting (there's a nice scene where you actually hear medieval music too!)....
Now, I can't go on, as I would narrate the whole movie, but the adventure just begins at that point, with a somewhat sad and unexpected ending!
And here you are a short video of some of the scenes of the movie:
So, did I like Tangled? Yes, it was a great movie. The graphics are very nice, and I have to say that she's one of the nicest princess Disney has ever drawn, in my opinion. She looks very real, and her green eyes are beautiful. I saw the film in 3D, but to tell the truth, there weren't so many "special effects" that made the 3D "necessary". Of course, 3D is always a better experience anyway, as you feel more part of the action, but this film is also good in 2D. It's nice, you should go and see it.
If anyone else has had the opportunity to see it, relate your experiences and opinions, if you want!

The Italian Title for this new movie is "RAPUNZEL"... terrible!!
ReplyDeleteYeah, it was going to be called "Rapunzel" also here in the U.S., but fortunately they changed the name to make it more interesting to both males and females.
