Proposed coaster for OTP
The Orlando biz journal has released a concept art for a proposed new coaster that would be built inside the new "ORLANDO THRILL PARK":
As you can see, this coaster is CRAZY, and very compact, which is completely understandable, as the park will open within "only" 70 acres (it will be expanded in the future (if it gets approved, of course!!).
The only thing that doesn't look right is the background... :-)!!
Also, the Orlando Sentinel has added a few more interesting details about the coasters that could be featured:

Developers want to build a new amusement park with towering thrill rides on an undeveloped piece land on the north end of International Drive.
The park could feature as many as 15 rides, according to a rendering provided to the city of Orlando as part of an application for zoning and land-use changes. The documents also include photos of extreme-design roller coasters, with interlocking loops and vertical, "top-hat" drops.
The tallest ride, according to the sketch, would be 425 feet tall — just shy of the 441-foot-tall SunTrust Center office tower in downtown Orlando. Developers of what's being called "Orlando Thrill Park" would need the approval of the Federal Aviation Administration for a structure of that height, the application states.
The park would be built on 77.7 acres owned by I-Drive Investors LLC. OTP Group LLC — a company that has ties to longtime Central Florida hospitality company Baker Leisure Group — is a partner in the development.

15 rides is a good start, in my opinion! I just hope it's not only coasters! And it'd better not include flat rides in those 15....Let's just wait for now.
- UPDATE -

The (draft) map of the park:
So, yes, it looks like it will be a coasters-only park. What a disappointment for me.
The coasters fanatics will be surely very happy though.

I'm all for thrill rides and Roller Coasters but to be honest, when I visit Orlando it's because of the World-Class themed attractions at Universal and Disney. I'm disappointed as well.
ReplyDeleteI will say, Orlando did need a big Thrill Park. Im excited to see we might get a 425foot tall coaster.
ReplyDeletewhat! i thought 1 picture was the same as the top thrill dragster at cedar point in ohio! *@&$
ReplyDeleteI like coasters, but these might be too intense for me :X
ReplyDeletePlus, I like variety!
