Next-generation coming to WDW
Yesterday, while visiting the Magic Kingdom, I noticed something going on in Liberty Square.
As you know, I check all the queues of the rides, and when it was the turn of the Mansion, here's what I saw:
MORE WALLS!:
Over the wall pictures? Her you go:
Notice the blue marks on the hill, that are a sign of the expansion of the queue:
Some of these tombs will be removed, but most of them will remain, as they're a reference to the WDI that worked on the attraction:
So, what's so special about them? They will soon hide some very important works, not only for that attraction, but for many other attractions in Walt Disney World, like Winnie The Pooh itself.
Indeed, thanks to WDWMagic, we have now confirmed that these works are part of the "NEXT GENERATION PROJECT". What is that, you may ask.
It will be the future of the queues of some of the rides of the resort! It will include many interesting interactive games (not necessarily on tv screens) and other things tht will make the time you pass in line fly!
I'm very happy to hear this, and let's see what Disney can do!
The works are slated to last for some months, by the way, as there will be also some chenges to the route of the queue itself (it will be just a little longer).
Notice the wall on the left (you can't miss it!).
So, what do you think? Sounds interesting, right?

I'm not happy about this at all. Those gravestones are tributes to the Imagineers who worked on this ride. Removing them is removing Disney's history.
ReplyDeleteI too am unhappy about this, the tombstones are very cool and a great piece of Disney history. I don't mind next gen. queses but NOT at the expense of the tombstones!
ReplyDeleteHave to agree with the last two posts. I wouldn't be happy about removing the tombstones.
ReplyDeleteThey will be re-using the tombstones in the new queue, don't be so quick to judge before its even finished.
ReplyDeleteExactly what Michael said - the tombstones will be reused. Disney is not that quick to chop out history! Walt himself said the parks would be ever changing and evolving.
