Tokyo Disney Resort celebrated its two parks' 500 millionth guest Aug. 27 when Megumi Soma passed through the main entrance of Tokyo Disneyland at 10:21 a.m.
Soma had just entered the park with her husband and two children when officials approached her to deliver the news. Mickey and Minnie presented her with a bouquet of flowers then led her to a stage where a ceremony naming her the 500 millionth guest was conducted. She received an honorary certificate, a passport valid for five years of admission at both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea parks and an invitation to spend five nights at the Disney Ambassador Hotel.
"I'm surprised and happy," Soma said.
Tokyo Disneyland Park opened with Tokyo Disney Resort on April 15, 1983, and Tokyo DisneySea Park debuted Sept. 4, 2001.
