Universal Orlando expansion.... possible?
Just yesterday and a few days ago, we talked about the possibility of an expansion of Universal Orlando, that may include a new area or a new waterpark (even a theme park, but that's only a small rumor).
Here you are some of the areas that COULD be used for expansion:
First of all, behind JP River Adventure's building there's a boneyard that could be used to build a brand-new area:

Where the old Triceratops Encounter now stands, there is a small but enough space to build something (even though I would love to see Triceratops Encounter's return!!!):
In Universal Studios, there are many soundstages that are either abandoned or house a useless ride:
And then of course, there's the old Hard Rock Cafe' building that is in shameful conditions right now:
One of the best guesses for a Universal Studios expansion is the huge empty lot between The Simpsons ride and MIB: Alien Attack:
A better overview of the area:
This is kind of strange, but in the Blue Sky survey, they actually asked if we would visit a brand-new theme park located behind the AMC Cinemas.... Awkward:
And to end, there's a really big lot (smaller than SaWorld) that could be used for a new waterpark...
or better yet, a theme park....
Of course all this is PURE SPECULATION, just to have fun.
But what do you think?
In your opinion, is there any remote possibility of seeing a new water park (or theme park) coming in the future?

It is highly unlikely to be built there as the dam is what supplys JPRA with its water. Unless they move the pipes to take the water from the lagoon it wont happen. But i Like the idea.
ReplyDeleteBehind Twister/HRRR is a building used for HHN and special events. Jimmy Neutron's not going anywhere. The old Herc/Xena building is in need of demolishing and rebuilding, and that's expensive (and they can't take a part of the tax credit for incorporating a bit of the old structure in it, like they're doing at Magic Kingdom with Little Mermaid, or all of DCA's re-dos. That's the reason why they replace instead of build new.
ReplyDeleteBetween MiB and Simpsons' isn't enough room for anything. There were plans for Jurassic Park back there before IOA was decided on, but now that land holds Halloween mazes, firework sheds, utilities, Mardi Gras float buildings, etc. So, don't get your hopes up for new developments without sacrificing the old ones.
Twister, Shrek, and Fear Factor are all on the chopping block. The way I hear, the next big attraction will be built with a generic theme (ala HRRR or Disaster).
