New Music Added to Space Mountain
at Walt Disney World Resort
Listen up Space Mountain fans, there’s a new addition to the Walt Disney World Resort attraction that just may be music to your ears. It’s an enhanced audio experience with sounds you’ve never heard before. Walt Disney Imagineering has added a new composition that’s exclusive to the attraction at Magic Kingdom Park that will play with varying sound effects throughout all “flights” on 60 newly installed speakers. “Starry-O-Phonic Sound” compliments a slew of enhancements that debuted on Space Mountain last year, including new lighting, storyline elements and updated decor. Here’s a special message from The Space Mountain Project Team.

This SOUNDS great!!! (No pun intended.... well maybe yes.)
Great start but its really a waste of money. Unless they have speakers mounted every 10-20 feet you really wont hear very much because your going by so fast.
ReplyDeleteI disagree. I think it will be a great add for space mountain! It may be a dumb question, but is the speaker mounted on the track or in the car?
ReplyDeleteIts mounted on the track which is why I said its not a major addition. Theres only 30 speakers per side. Your going at about 27 mph so your just going to zoom past the speakers and just catch a short audible sound which is probably going to be masked by riders screams and etc.

Ohhh, well darn. Sorry bout that. I love space mountain and I thought that was gonna be cooler. Yeah I guess if it was closer together it would be nicer. It seems like a waste of money to me. I wish they would focus on bigger things like EPCOT, than adding speakers. :(
ReplyDeleteThanks for replying!
No problem. I think that we will eventually see on-board audio (maybe they can put on board audio on big thunder and other rides to and charge a fee and you get a headset to wear) but that wont be until we get new trains.
ReplyDeleteJack Spence at All Ears reviewed it and he gave the new audio a C-. He said he was being generous because it was Disney...
ReplyDeleteAs long as its doesn't sound stupid, like a random clip or two here and there, I don't think people will focus on the sound. *Fingers crossed* I'm going this Spring.
