The Disney Look... to the Past! (08/09 - 08/15)
Here's this week look at the past of many amazing Disney attractions, parks and resorts!:
This Week in Disney History: August 9-15
August 13, 1942 - Walt Disney Pictures releases Bambi
The fifth full-length animated feature presented by Walt Disney Pictures brought the world the lovable characters Flower the skunk, Thumper the rabbit and of course our hero, Bambi the deer. The heartwarming and sometimes tear-jerking story follows our forest friends through growing up in a man-ruled world, finding love and sticking together through thick and thin. The film received three Academy Award nominations, including best sound, best original music score and best song for "Love is a Song."
August 15, 2003 - Mission: SPACE soft-opens for guests at Epcot
Did you dream about being an astronaut as a child, venturing out to planets only seen through telescopes? Well, Mission: SPACE began making that dream a reality for guests in the summer of 2003. Trainees are invited to take part in the International Space Training Center, where they are prepped for an out-of-this-world experience that includes a sling-shot around the moon, a refreshing hypersleep to Mars and a touchdown on the red planet itself. Want to experience Mars without so much, well, spinning? The Green team has a spot reserved just for you on its roster.
