The ORIGINAL Journey into Imagination

While searching on YOU TUBE some old videos of past attractions, I saw a really good video (in 3 parts) of the ORIGINAL Journey Into Imagination....

AND I GOT MAD!!!

Judge by yourself!:

VIDEOS SUBJECT TO THE COPYRIGHT OF MARTIN SMITH

- PART 1 -

- PART 2 -

- PART 3 -

Even if you didn't see all three videos you may have understood why I got so mad.
It was a major E-ticket dark ride!! It was great, 100 times better than the current cheap version!!
It is the first time I've seen a great video of it!

I knew that the original version was good, but not as much as this!!!!

What do you think? Shouldn't Disney be ashamed of how they've treated Epcot???
No more original JOURNEY INTO IMAGINATION, WORLDS OF MOTION, HORIZON, WONDERS OF LIFE!!!

What have they done????

  1. Thanks for posting! While the original was the best, I don't mind the current ride.

  2. I can sum it up in two words: Michael Eisner. Yes, he started off good, but it didn't last long. I think it's pretty telling that Roy E. Disney was the one who fought to get him in, and then he was the one who fought to get him out!

  3. I agree with James. Epcot is my favorite park, but it's not the park it once was. They've dumbed it down and shoe-horned in Disney & Pixar characters where they didn't need to do so.

  4. I am in the same your situation, Jen. Epcot is my favorite theme park of all times, but imagine how it was before!!! If I would have had the possibility of visiting it when it first opened (which would have been impossible, since I wasn't born yet)
I would have never left EPCOT!!!!

But, what about Michael Eisner? James, do you think he was the responsible for all this mess?

  5. The dumbing down of Epcot, the transformation of Main St. USA into a series of identical souveneir stores, and other poor choices were made under Eisner's leadership in his waning years. He may have revitalized Disney animation and brought many good things to the parks early on, but something happened that caused much damage that will take a long time to undo.

  6. You weren't born when Epcot opened in 1981? How old are you Samuele?

  7. @ James: I agree with you, he made some good choices speaking about the Disney films, but in the parks... not so much, as you explained!!

    @ Anonymous: No, I wasn't born yet...
    I'm a bit younger, early 90's...
    P.S. - Epcot opened in 1982 ;-)

  8. So I'm really surprised about that, early 90's. Really? I never dare to ask cause I thought it was too personal, but good to know. I thought you were more about my age, younger than 30 but older than 25.

I haven't seen the vids but what year did they change it? Cause I don't remember if I saw it all years, but I rode it in the 90's like 3 times. So what year did they made the change?

  9. Yes, it's a bit more of a personal answer, that's why I said early '90, but in reality that I made a mistake... I was born between 1985-1995...

About the Imagination pavilion, they closed it and ruined it on October 10, 1998 (according to Wikipedia)...
    I'm so sorry about that!!!
