New handheld device for people with disabilities

From the Disney Parks Blog, we receive the news that a new handheld device has been put into use for people that have eye problems (visually impaired guests).

You can read the whole article HERE.

It is a great new device that will explain in words what is surrounding the guest.
For example, if he's in front of the castle, he will hear: "Ahead you can find Cinderella Castle, a very tall and majestic structure characterized by white, blue and golden colors...."

Here you are a picture of the new gadget (All pictures are subject to the copyright of the Walt Disney® Company. All rights are reserved.):

It will also feature a detailed audio description of more than 50 attractions throughout the parks.

It will be available in most Disney Parks, including Epcot, as you can see from this picture:

And, just to show you how it works, here's a video:

The HATD (Handheld Assistive Technology Device) will be available starting June 27 in the Walt Disney World Resort, while guests visiting the Disneyland Resort will have to wait until 2011.
The device is available at NO ADDITIONAL COST, and must be returned at the end of the day.

I thought that it would be interesting to see how Disney really cares about its guests, inventing anything they can to make a day enjoyable.

Great job.
