Busch Gardens’ Broadway-Style Show to Entertain Audiences Through Labor Day

After six years and more than 10,000 performances, the curtain will close one last time on Busch Gardens Tampa Bay’s Broadway-style spectacle “KaTonga: Musical Tales from the Jungle” on Labor Day

KaTonga, which opened in April 2004 in the park’s majestic Moroccan Palace Theater, follows a day in the life of four Griots, or storytellers, as they strive to become masters of their craft. To accomplish this rite of passage, they tell traditional tales of African animal folklore through music, dance and puppetry.

“KaTonga is the only one-act original musical commissioned by a corporation for the theme park environment,” said producer Don Frantz during the show’s 2004 opening. “As impressive, Busch Gardens’ Moroccan Palace Theater is the only legitimate full scale Broadway-style theater in a theme park on the entire East Coast.”

Now through the end of the run, KaTonga’s many fans have the opportunity to learn even more about the show during Busch Gardens’ daily “KaTonga Insider” tour. Participants will get reserved VIP seating at the mid-afternoon performance, then stay to meet the cast and get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look the detail of the costumes, the mechanics of the puppets and the secrets of how technicians change scenes and manipulate the backstage to produce each performance.  I personally don't like this show very much, because it gets quite boring without special effects...

I hope they will put a better show!
