WDW's year in review 2009: MAGIC KINGDOM

Today I will begin to write a review of the year 2009 regarding all the four Walt Disney World theme parks and Downtown Disney.

Magic Kingdom:
  • "Celebrate a Dream come true" parade debuts January 23. it features a large cast of festive partygoers who dance and interact with the crowds.
  • "The Pirates League" debuts near the "Pirates of the Caribbean" attraction on June 25. It's a male version of the Bibbidi, Bobbidi Boutique (also at MK).
  • Magic Kingdom was the host site of a U.S. Naturalization Ceremony for 1,000 immigrants from more than 100 countries on july 3.
  • "The Hall of Presidents" reopens to the public on july 4 with the addition of a new storyline, a new speech of Abraham Lincoln and a new Audio-Animatronic figure of president Barack Obama.
  • At the Disney 23 event in California, Walt Disney Parks and Resort Chairman Jay Rasulo announces the construction of the NEW FANTASYLAND, a huge rehab of the current area plus the addition of many new castles, meet-and-greet areas, new restaurants, a brand new dark ride ("Ariel's undersea adventure"), a new double Dumbo ride with a queue-less sistem and a new forest called "Pixie Hollow". All this is slated to open in 2013.
  • A special parade was held for Buzz Lightyear that returned from the space on October 2.
  • "Tiana's Showboat Jubilee" launched October 23, to celebrate the new Disney Animated Film "The Princess and the Frog".
  • SPACE MOUNTAIN reopened November 22, after a seven-month refurbishment, whicn included a new interactive queue, a new loading area, a refreshing of both tracks and a new post-show.

This is all for Magic Kingdom. See you tomorrow with the 2009 EPCOT review!
