Horizons

Let's take some time to talk about an attraction that, even if i have never seen, I miss a lot.

I am talking about Horizons, the beautiful dark ride that was built in 1983, a year after the opening of Epcot center. Horizons was the first new addition in Epcot, and was located in the Mission:Space pavilion.

The entrance (where now you find Mission: Space)

The building was very different than it is before. Indeed, it was very long and had a diamond shape, while now it is a circular pavilion..

The grand opening day, OCTOBER 1, 1983

The building was futuristic for that time

Inside, there were 54  audio-animatronics, with many scenes (24) that depicted the lifestyle in the future...

  1. All I have to say is I am definitely blessed to have had the opportunity to not only experience Horizons first-hand but to also had taken opportunity to grab as much video and audio that I could while on board Horizons. I've compiled the best of my captures into a fine video tribute that I would be delighted to share with folks on this blog. Would the author of this blog please give me a shout via E-mail so I could provide further information on that?

Thank you for creating such a wonderful blog in tribute to what is perhaps the crown-jewel of EPCOT Center!
