Epcot Update: Universe of Energy Closes, Mission: SPACE Reopens
The Universe of Energy is now gone. This classic EPCOT Center attraction already received some changes in the 1990s, but they were not as major as the changes that are coming to this pavilion in the coming years. The ride system, Audio-Animatronics, and theme will be completely new when the ride reopens as a Guardians of the Galaxy ride. The nearby Mission: SPACE was also recently refurbished and a new mission was added. Let's take a quick look around and see all that's new.
Siemens will soon be gone:
According to a rendering showing the future Epcot, the Fountain of Nations may also be gone in a few years:
BB-8 souvenir steins are now available at the Electric Umbrella:
The Mobile Order pick up window can now be found on the right side of the ordering area:
Innoventions:
We love listening to the background music of the Colortopia exhibit. It includes the soundtrack of movies like Tomorrowland:
Rumors say that the Sum of All Thrills attraction may soon reopen without a sponsor:
The Universe of Energy is no more:
Let's head to the pavilion:
It's hard to believe that the 45-minute attraction is now gone:
Even though it was extremely dated, it was still fascinating going through the dinosaur diorama:
Bushes block the attraction's entrance:
So long...
At least that pavilion won't end up like this disgrace:
Mission: SPACE has reopened:
The Green side is even milder than before, but it includes an all-new mission:
The Orange side takes Guests to Mars, while the Green side takes Guests around the Earth:
Moving on:
New signs direct Guests to the FastPass+ kiosks located in the Future World breezeways:
Let's take a quick look around Future World West:
The Land pavilion still needs a lot of help:
We won't even talk about the Imagination pavilion. Saying that it needs help is an understatement:
Some temporary lights have been placed by the gardens between the Imagination! and The Land pavilions:
The Food & Wine Festival begins in less than two weeks!:
It looks like the stage will not return to this spot this year:
The old Communicore:
Relaxing...
And that is all for now. A World Showcase update will be posted tomorrow. Stay tuned!
