Additional Rivers of Light Nighttime Show Details Released

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is in the midst of an incredible period of growth, which will culminate with the opening of Pandora – The World of AVATAR in 2017.
Even before that happens, Guests will be able to experience the magic of nature at night with new after-dark experiences and entertainment that will literally light up the park starting in spring 2016, including the new “Rivers of Light” nighttime show. Today, Disney release additional information about this new offering.

Each evening, Guests will gather along the edge of the Discovery River for the new immersive nighttime experience where an ancient, timeless show will come to life before their eyes. During the show, a pair of mystical hosts will come to the river bearing gifts of light. Afterward, the hosts set out from the shore on elaborate lantern vessels for a dramatic dance of water and light.

In addition to the show, the park’s iconic Tree of Life will also come to life (pardon the pun) every night, thanks to  magical fireflies, revealing moments of wonder and enchantment never experienced before.

To create “Rivers of Light,” Imagineers and Creative Entertainment partnered with the talents of master puppet designer Michael Curry, composer Mark Mancina and the filmmakers at Disneynature. 

According to Imagineer Joe Rohde, the addition of “Rivers of Light” to the park’s existing offerings will serve as that huge “wow” moment that ends a guest’s visit to the park.
