Animal Kingdom Update: News, Rumors, Etc. (PART 3)
Welcome to PART 3 of this Disney's Animal Kingdom photo-update (PART 2 can be found HERE).
It is time to continue our discussion regarding the possibility of a new nighttime show for the park. So, why did we pick this particular area as the location of the new (covered) amphitheater? Well, look at this:
Can you see it now? :-)

Time to move on:
Expedition Everest is another truly magnificent structure. That is why we would love to have it become the background of the rumored new nighttime show. Imagine if it was lit up with different colors during the show:

Going back to Discovery Island:
A new FastPass+ sign for the Discovery Island Character Landing will soon be unveiled:
The Flame Tree Barbecue is our favorite restaurant in this park. It may have to find a new location for its seating area, though (if they follow our advice, that is!)...
New sign for Dug & Russel's meet-and-greet area (located next to "It's Though to be a Bug!"):
Just outside the park's gates, sign are now advertising the new direct bus route to Downtown Disney:

This should conclude this photo-report. As always, we hope you enjoyed the photos, and we look forward to read your comments and opinions. Also, if you have heard more rumors regarding Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park (or any other theme park in the Central Florida area), feel free to share them with us!
I wonder if the Avatar/show construction will affect the Everest 5k, I just booked my trip for that weekend!!!!
ReplyDeleteI would most definitely lead a protest to save the Flame Tree Barbecue. If Disney started to take part of the charm away from their best themed park in Orlando, I'd be furious. My vote is for the Rivers of Light and have small viewing areas all around the park, maybe a larger one as a path between Pandora and Africa (assuming the backstage stuff could be fixed-ish).
ReplyDeleteLove the blog btw!

Animal Kingdom is the best themed zoo ever. A giant upside down deep sea oil rig themed to a fake plastic tree with animal carvings inspired me to love nature and is not hypocritical at all. Every national park should have an upside down oil rig shine to nature.
ReplyDeleteExpedition Everest truly has a great exterior. I only wish the interior (complete with working effects) was as brilliant.
ReplyDeleteRe: Anonymous #3, watch your language! And watch your attitude towards Avatar, too!
ReplyDeleteBusch Gardens beats Animal Kingdom and Ir's not even close. Worst park in the Disney chain, which aint saying much.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately Animal Kingdom is way underrated .
ReplyDeleteJust dont dare take away the FTB seating area .
ADMINISTRATOR'S NOTE: We had to remove one of the comments due to the language that was used. We would like to take the time to remind everyone that we love reading your comments, and we encourage everyone to join in the converstation, but we DO NOT allow any cursing or bad language. We never did, and we will certainly never will allow something like that on our site. It is great to hear different sides; there's always going to be someone who disagrees with something, but this does NOT give anyone the authority to include bad language. Let's all be respectful.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for your cooperation.
I really hope they do add a World Of Color style show to the park...but it needs to be about Disney. A nature version of the show simply wouldn't have the same magic that the current show has. They should bring over some of the scenes that work really well (like Pirates, the opening, the Lion King, the ending) and then exchange some of the weaker scenes (like Brave) for an expanded Bugs Life or even a Bambi scene to bring more animals/bugs into the show.
ReplyDeleteWhile I agree that losing a seating area is not ideal, that background simply will not be passed up by Disney. They use Mickey's Fun Wheel a lot during the current show so they would need a location to project images onto and that mountain would be perfect. They can also move the seating area while still keeping it's same theme.
I really, really hope Disney brings this show to the park. It would help the park a TON. Lets face it, Avatar is going to be a place most people want to see a night because of all the amazing light work Disney better do. So, to help draw people away from the area at night, build the best nighttime show Disney has EVER put together on the totally opposite side of the park. This would give them another reason to keep the park open late, another reason for people to stay at the park late, and it would give me a reason to visit the park more than 3-4 hours during the course of a ten day visit.
We agree wit you, Anonymous. Disney knows how to create wonderful environment that can become even more immersive at night. The World of Color-style show would also help keep people in the park (with AVATAR Land, Asia, and... Dino Land).
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure that all ideas for a nighttime show at Animal Kingdom have been scraped. The parade is being D/C'd as it's 14 years old and is in need of updating and money is going to Magic Kingodm entertainment at the moment.
ReplyDeleteThey need a complete REDO of Dinoland, keep Dinosaur and scrap everything else, a nice little kids coaster (that does not spin) would be nice!
ReplyDeleteThe park also needs family style Dark Rides. A Jungle Book dark ride in Asia & a Tarzan themed ride using the trackless system in Tokyo will help,
ReplyDeleteWhile Avatar I believe will be great, another E Ticket ride based on extinct & mythical creatures would round out the park,
I'm late to the commenting game here, but just thought that seeing a very early speculation regarding the nighttime entertainment / spectacular.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I wonder if DAK closes at 5pm because there is no nighttime show or there is no nighttime show because it closes at 5pm (I realize later on busier days). If the latter is the case, a nighttime show (which would need to start at 9pm if necessarily at 'night') and attempting to get crowds to stick around til then might prove for trouble than the show is worth.
two cents. Thoughts?
