New Pirates-Themed Game Coming to Magic Kingdom

Not surprisingly, the Disney Parks Blog just announced that another new interactive game is coming to the Walt Disney World Resort. This time, it is one more addition coming specifically to the Magic Kingdom Park.

According to this news, the official name of this new interactive quest will be "A Pirate’s Adventure: Treasures of the Seven Seas." As you will rightly infer, the game will debut in Adventureland, where Guests will be able to choose their own pirates' adventures starting from this spring. Here's a great artist rendering about this:

In A Pirate’s Adventure: Treasures of the Seven Seas, you will have to use a map to guide yourself around the land, and you will have to complete five different adventures. The official description of this game states that "the goal is to help locate different Treasures of the Seven Seas and fight off pirate enemies like the Royal Navy and Captain Barbossa, among others. If guests help Captain Jack succeed in all the missions, they’ll be welcomed as part of his new crew. If not, they’ll face the wrath of the cruel sea – alone."

We will keep you up-to-date on this, and you can be sure that we will let you know when Disney will release more information about this brand-new experience. In the meantime, if you would like to take a preview of just some of the locations of the new interactive elements that will be part of this new game, CLICK HERE.

  1. Everytime I see these, I can't help but think.
Couldn't the money have been used to build a new ride at Epcot or Hollywood Studios?
Do we really need more "walk arounds" at The Magic Kingdom?

  2. It takes more resources than money to build a new ride. It takes years to design and construct an attraction, not to mention the need to solve the attraction's logistics (where and when will it be built) and its effects on park traffic/attendance.
These "interactive games" are minor ancillary projects. It's not like they spent $100 million to create this game.

  3. I agree with CalcAu, there's a lot more to Disney parks than rides.

I don't see myself ever playing Agent P or the Sorcerers games but apparently there are enough people who do to make it worth the time and money they cost to create and maintain. Even if I never play this new Pirate game it adds detail and fun to my favorite land in the Magic Kingdom, ride or not.

There are people (I'm one) who get as much enjoyment out of the theming, landscaping, music, food, etc. that go into telling a story.
