Cheetah Hunt: Busch Gardens' New Coaster - Photos

Cheetah Hunt is really great. This new coaster has just opened at the end of May 2011, and it is already a huge hit. On the day that we visited (one week after the Grand Opening), the coaster had a 90-minute wait, and at the end of the day, at about 8 p.m., the ride still had a 45-minute wait. Mr. Kinkaid (DISASTER's producers) would say that this smells like a "Summer Blockbuster" ride.

Let's check out the ride together, with these off-ride pictures that we took from around the park:

The ride is so popular that Busch Gardens could not include the ride in the "Quick Queue" offer:

When you enter the Nairobi section of the park, Cheetah Hunt steals the attention, with its fabulous 8-figure:

Let's check out Cheetah Run, the new animal exhibit that was built together with the roller coaster

The theming that surrounds the place is absolutely gorgeous. It is has OTPN's seals of approval:

More fantastic theming:

Afterwards, they let out other young cheetahs:

They're really great animals:

And now, some pictures of the coaster itself and the queue area:

The test seat, near the entrance:

The ride's logo:

Right next to the coaster's entrance you can find the Skyride's new entrance, which seems to be a bit uncomfortable, as people enter and exit from the same, small passage (with two different lines, of course):

The queue area of the coaster has received only partial theming, but it works:

They're still working on some areas near the coaster:

Some coaster photos:

From the Skyride, you can really get some great pictures of the coaster:

It it so big that it's almost impossible to get the whole coaster in one picture!:

Over the old water section of "Rhino Rally" (click here to read an interesting rumor about Rhino Rally):

Artistic shot:

From the ground:

Once the ride is done, you enter through a store, where they have very technological photo-viewers:

Here, you can also find a huge selection of specific Cheetah Hunt merchandise:

A banner reminds us the ride's motto:

Cheetah Snacks is a new snack booth located near the entrance to Cheetah Hunt:

While we were there, they were preparing for the "Pretzel Coaster Build-off" event:

Going back to Cheetah Run, at dusk:

We'll close this update, with this pictures, that says it all:

And that's all for today.

Remember to check back OTPN later this week, for a full Busch Gardens general update!

  2. Thanks for the update...

Improvement already, thanks for posting the wait time Samuele! 90mins are not good but manageable. I saw a photo with waits at 180mins. So WoW!! That is a little much. 120 would be tough but I think I would do it. 180 no way!

How was the speed? Cause you were kind of worried about that. My guess has always been that since it was really close to the ground, objects would make it seem faster... So how how was the ride and the speed? But have in mind that I do love Roller Coasters...

  3. What I mean by that is I know you do love Dark Rides and more family friendly rides. Not necessarily love Riding Roller Coasters as much as a few of us here... So I wanted to know if it was more a more Family Oriented Ride or a little bit more intense than that?

Did you get a chance to ride it Samuele?

  4. That's the right question, Francisco! Unfortunately, no. I didn't get to ride it (ok, now you made me feel ashamed), but only because of the huge drop at the beginning and for the corkscrew near the middle of the ride, otherwise, this would have been one of my favorite rides ever. The theming, the speed and the smoothness of the ride can all be perceived also from the ground.
Let me tell you, this ride is a MUST for both "brave" families and roller coaster enthusiasts. It is also pretty long, and it is as quiet as Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit (but much, much more reliable than that!).
This is surely a fantastic addition to the park. As a coaster fan, you will love it, but SheiKra, Kumba, Montu and Gwazi will still be consider more thrilling that Cheetah Hunt. This doesn't mean they're better than CH, at least not to me.
I hope you'll have the opportunity of checking it out yourself soon!

Yep I hope to get a chance to ride it this Summer too. In July hopefully!! Don't wanna jinx it, cause last year... Well, thanks for the updates and the info Samuele. I hope you get the chance to ride it too...
